Qubie
A fast, private speedcubing timer that works with your gear — smart cubes, timers and all — and keeps everything on your device.
Qubie is in the final stages before launch. Want to know the moment it's live? Email us and we'll let you know.
What Qubie is
Qubie is a speedcubing timer for people who want to get faster. It times your solves, generates official-style scrambles, keeps your stats and averages, and connects to the smart cubes and timers you already use — without an account, ads or tracking of any kind.
Why we built it
Speedcubing is a sport of milliseconds. The difference between a good solve and a great one is tiny, and the people chasing it care deeply about the detail — clean scrambles, accurate timing, honest stats. Yet so much of the software around the hobby felt like an afterthought: cluttered with ads, hungry for accounts and data, or simply clunky to use mid-session when all you want is to pick up the cube and go again.
We wanted a timer that respected both the sport and the person using it — something quick, focused and beautifully simple, that treated your solve history as yours and nobody else's.
The idea behind Qubie: a timer serious enough for the stats that matter, simple enough to disappear while you solve, and private by default — your data never leaves your device.
The problems we set out to solve
Fragmented tools
Your smart cube, your timer and your stats app often didn't talk to each other. You juggled several tools to do one thing.
Privacy as an afterthought
Too many apps pushed accounts, uploaded your history and bolted on tracking — for a hobby that needs none of it.
Friction mid-session
Tapping a screen to start and stop breaks your flow. Real practice means dozens of solves back to back.
Progress you couldn't see
It was hard to tell whether you were actually improving, or to set goals worth chasing.
How Qubie solves them
Smart cube & timer support
Connect compatible Bluetooth smart cubes (such as GAN and GoCube) and StackMat timers — one app for your whole setup.
Hands-free timing
Start and stop by voice — just say "go" and "stop". Audio is processed on your device and never recorded or uploaded.
Record your solves
Capture a video of a solve to review your technique. Recordings are saved on your device and stay with you.
WCA goals
Enter your World Cube Association ID and Qubie pulls your public results to turn them into goals to chase.
Stats that mean something
Times, averages, bests and full history — everything a serious cuber watches, laid out clearly.
Private by default
No account, no ads, no tracking. Your solves and settings live on your device, not on our servers.
Free, with one honest unlock
Qubie is free to download and genuinely useful from the first solve. There's a single one-time in-app purchase that unlocks extra features — no subscription, nothing that renews. The purchase is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play, so we never see your payment details.
Built with care
Qubie is made by Better Humans Group — a small studio building thoughtful, privacy-first apps that help people. Qubie is suitable for all ages, including younger cubers, and because it runs on your device we operate no accounts and collect no personal data about you.
